Island HealthSharon Torgerson is Island Health’s Vice President of People and provides strategic leadership to support employees throughout the organization. Sharon is responsible for Human Resources Business Partners; Organizational Development; Enterprise Change Management; Employee and Labour Relations; Talent Acquisition and Employee Journey; Health, Wellness, Safety and Ability Management, Human Resources Information Systems; as well as Scheduling Services.
Sharon started her career as a Registered Nurse and has a Masters in Continuing Education with a specialty in Workplace Learning from the University of Calgary. Sharon has more than 30 years of progressive leadership experience across both public and private sector. Sharon brings with her a wealth of experience in the B.C. health sector including serving as an executive for BC Clinical and Support Services (BCCSS) where she was responsible for human resources, privacy and access to information, and partner engagement. Sharon recently obtained her ICD.D designation by completing a national education program for Board Directors jointly developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto.
