SWITCH BC was so proud to participate in Victoria’s Pride Parade on June 26, 2022. Staff were joined by family and friends, with our new banner and some homemade signs, to march for equality and in support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

SWITCH BC believes everyone should have the freedom to be who they are. We believe diversity and equality in healthcare is what makes the system stronger. Our team is committed to creating spaces where everyone can shine, where everyone feels welcome.

It was thrilling to see thousands of people along the parade route (double the turnout of the most recent in-person parade in Victoria in 2019) who share our values. To everyone who cheered with us along the way, thank you – we felt the love. To Victoria Pride Parade organizers, thank you for creating time and space through joyful floats, colours, and music to show our children – future leaders in healthcare, and in every sector – that we must walk together in harmony.

To members of the LGBTQIA+ community working in healthcare, thank you for your many contributions. Having patients, residents, clients, and colleagues see themselves reflected in our workforce, makes healthcare workplaces safer and more supportive for everyone.
