- In B.C. mental health injury claims increased by 38% between 2019 and 2021. And 40% of all mental health claims came from the health sector, WorkSafeBC.
- In Canada 92% of nurses reported feeling more stressed at work – that’s higher than physicians at 83.7%, and 83% for both health care aides and other health care workers between September and November 2021, Statistics Canada.
- 77% of health care workers in Canada who had direct contact with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 reported worsening mental health compared with before the pandemic, Statistics Canada.
- More than 60% of health care workers in Canadian hospitals were experiencing severe burnout in phase 1 of the pandemic, Science Table COVID-19 Advisory for Ontario.
- More than $50 billion dollars a year in economic cost is linked to mental health problems in Canada, Mental Health Commission of Canada.
