Innovation in Health and Safety – The OHS Resource Centre at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)
The OHS Resource Centre is now available to all Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees (JOHSCs) at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). It will standardize and streamline meeting management by centralizing agendas, minutes, investigation and incident reports, and action logs.
SWITCH BC introduced the OHS Resource Centre to VCH’s JOHSCs during the 2025 spring Safety Summit. Watch the kickoff video from the event below.

Kelly Sommer, Director, Operations and Gord Lechner, Manager, OHS Resource Centre, met with hundreds of VCH staff throughout the day, offering a live look at the new digital platform and answering questions.
“The OHS Resource Centre is a real technological innovation,” says Sally Breen, VCH Executive Director, Health, Safety and Talent Management. “It’s going to allow our JOHS committees to take minutes more efficiently and have everything on one platform, so they can spend more time having conversations about safety.”
The OHS Resource Centre is already supporting committees at Providence Health Care and, beginning in fall 2025, it will be used by JOHSCs at Island Health and Interior Health.
The OHS Resource Centre launch is a partnership including: the BC General Employees’ Union, BC Nurses’ Union, Health Sciences Association of BC, Hospital Employees’ Union, Vancouver Coastal Health, and SWITCH BC.
