Meribeth Burton

Meribeth Burton is SWITCH BC’s Communication Director. Meribeth is a veteran journalist and communications leader. For 20 years Meribeth was a television news anchor and reporter on Vancouver Island. For the past ten years, Meribeth has been a media relations and strategic communications leader with the provincial government and other organizations including Island Health and BC Transit. Most recently, Meribeth had the privilege of supporting the Ministers of Education and Health with crisis communications expertise, issues management, event planning, stakeholder relations, media relations, and media and social media strategies. Meribeth believes communication is the key in healthcare, taking often complex information and making easy to understand for everyone.

Meribeth has a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Canadore College and a Certificate in Professional Communications Management from Royal Roads University.

Outside of work, Meribeth is a parent, a board member with her local community association, an avid baker, and she has recently taken up paddle boarding.
